Introduction

Front

{{section_header}}{{section.name}}{{/section_header}}

The {{product.name}} marks the debut of a new design language for Haier that's specifically designed for the US market. Chrome accents and a curved door belie the washer's entry-level status. It also features an angled control panel for easy access, but that feature precludes the washer from having a dryer stacked on top of it.

We're not sure if those metal braces across the washer's rear are exclusive to the prototype. We'll be sure to report on the final design as soon as we can get a production unit in our lab.

Detergent Dispenser

{{section_header}}{{section.name}}{{/section_header}}

The detergent dispenser slides out from the top of the washer. It sits next to the control panel.

Washer Door

{{section_header}}{{section.name}}{{/section_header}}

The curved door has a flat handle all across its top. It's easy to open, easy to close and feels well-anchored to the unit itself. Open it to reveal a stainless steel tub.

Ease of Use

{{section_header}}{{section.name}}{{/section_header}}

Unless you need to stack your washer and dryer, the {{product.name}}'s fit, finish and usability are impressive. The angled control panel is a nice touch and makes buttons easier to see and labels easier to read. Bear in mind that this is a prototype -- we'll reserve final judgement until we get a production model in for testing.

Controls

{{section_header}}{{section.name}}{{/section_header}}

The {{product.name}}'s control panel features a single knob with ten cycles. The usual suspects -- normal, heavy duty, delicate -- are all there, but there's also an eco-friendly wash that uses cold water. On the prototype, it's marked "Greenwash," but a Haier representative assured us it's going to get renamed before production.

Next to the knob are physical button selectors for soil level, spin speed and water temperature. There are also options to add a delay, prewash, extra rinse and a longer soak. A Haier representative let us know that the control panel isn't finalized, so we'll let you know of any changes when we get a production unit into the lab for review.

Conclusion

{{product.vanity}}

If the {{product.name}}'s washing performance is as good as its design, Haier's first front-loader could be a competitive player in the US market. We're eager to put the {{product.model}} through our rigorous testing regimen, so look for a full review as soon as it hits the market this summer.
