In a summer software update, GE will soon add Amazon's Dash replenishment service to its WiFi-enabled washer and dryer.

Dash may be best known for its physical buttons, which are capable of automatically ordering staples like toilet paper, trash bags, or even condoms with a single press. But these washers and dryers will now have Dash functionality integrated directly into their software, with the ability to "anticipate and reorder laundry supplies when they are running low," according to a release from Amazon.com.

{{ amazon name="Ziploc Bags Dash Button", asin="B0187TPDW0", align="right" }} The GE GTW860SPJMC and GTW860SSJWS will be the first GE appliances to get Dash integration. It makes sense: These 5.1-cu.-ft. top loaders have automatic dispensers that can hold two months' worth of detergent. Already, owners only have to fill their washers with detergent once every few weeks. Now, their washers will remember to order replacement bottles for them

The matching dryers—the GTD86ESPJMC and its gas variant—will be updated at the same time, for fabric softener replenishment.

GE Appliance was one of the first companies to partner with Amazon for device integration with Dash Replenishment. Since the original announcement, GE's appliance division was acquired by Chinese manufacturer Haier. Now, it appears Dash integration plans were unaffected by the change of ownership.

Other home appliances that feature Dash integration include Neato's Botvac Connected, which we reviewed a few months ago, and Whirpool's smart washer and dryer.
